Arteriosclerosis
Hardening of the Arteries

Arteriosclerosis is characterized by a restriction of flow of blood to the cells of the body caused by a thickening and hardening of the arteries. It is usually the result of smoking,
too much fat in the diet and the lack of proper exercise.
Excessive mental and emotional strain can also contribute to hardening of the arteries. Cholesterol and fatty deposits can buildup on the walls of the arteries which gradually hardens with time and prevents the arteries from expanding and contracting as they should. The fatty deposits that buildup on the walls is called atheroma.
Arteriosclerosis is primarily a product of an inappropriate lifestyle and you can do a lot to heal your body by making necessary changes. Eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, reduce your stress levels as well as decrease or quit smoking and alcohol intake.
