LATIN NAME:
Peumus boldo
GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND INFORMATION:
The Boldo herb is an evergreen shrub/tree with leathery, aromatic leaves and scented flowers that bloom in autumn.
The female trees bear edible pale yellow fruit which has an unpleasant taste.
The tree is native to the central region of Chile and Peru.
TARGET AILMENTS:
Take internally for:
* gall-bladder problems
* stimulate and decongest the liver
* dyspepsia
* weak digestion
* lack of appetite due to nervousness, stress, and tension
* cystitis
PREPARATION:
Boldo is available in tablets, capsules, tincture, and extract.
It can be used as a decoction and infusion.
Parts used: Leaves-dried
Collection: The evergreen leaves can be gathered at any time.
Constituents: Boldine, glycosides, resins, tannin, volatile oil
Actions: Cholagogue, hepatic, diuretic, sedative, tonic, demulcent,
antiseptic
Combinations: Boldo combines well with Fringetree Bark and Mountain Grape
for treating gall-bladder or liver problems.

* Do not use if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
* If you have a central nervous system problems or respiratory disorder do
not use.
