The common Daisy is also known as English Daisy, Dog Daisy, Day's Eye, Bruisewort, and Bairnwort.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND INFORMATION:

The Daisy is a perennial flower (herb) which flowers at the beginning of spring till late in the autumn. It covers the ground with its flat leaves so closely that nothing can grow beneath them.

TARGET AILMENTS:

Take internally for:

* coughs

* catarrh

* migraines

* diarrhea

* arthritis

* rheumatism

* liver and kidney problems

* varicose veins

Apply externally for:

* wounds

* bruises

PREPARATIONS:

The Daisy is available as dried herb and a tincture. It is also an ingredient in many products.

It can be used as an infusion, decoction, and compress.

Collection: The flowers of the may be picked between early spring and mid-Fall.

Constituents: Saponins, tannin, essential oil, flavones, bitter principle, mucilage

Actions: Expectorant, astringent, vulnerary, demulcent, digestive, emmollient tonic properties

Combinations: can be used with Golden Rod or Coltsfoot for a respiratory catarrh.
