Dorosera




GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Dorosera, also called Sundew, is a remedy prepared from an insectivorous plant that is found throughout the world in damp, boggy conditions. It is a small round-leaved sundew plant.

The whole plant, picked when in flower, is used to make the homeopathic tincture. Dorosera is used to treat coughs, sore throats, fevers and affects the respiratory system.

TARGET AILMENTS

* Cough - Chest may feel tight and constricted. Fits of rapid, deep barking or choking cough or prolonged incessant cough. The cough may be so severe that it results in retching or vomiting and the person is compelled to hold their sides.

Voice is deep, hoarse, or hollow and toneless and have difficulty breathing out.

* Sore throat, laryngitis - There is a tickling sensation as if there is something stuck in the throat. It is difficult to swallow solid foods. Dryness of the throat causes a hacking cough with hoarse, deep voice. Yellow and green mucus comes up the throat.

* Nosebleed - Accompanied by a whooping cough.

* Fever - Always too cold; fever with whooping cough. Face becomes hot and hands becomes cold and shiver.

* Aches and pains - Limbs feel sore and bed feels hard.

Preparation and Dosage

Infusion-- Pour a cup of boiling water onto 1 teaspoonful of the dried herb and leave to infuse for 10-15 minutes. This should be drunk three times a day.

Tincture-- Take 1-2ml of the tincture three times a day.

Combinations: Drosera may be used with Grindelia and Pill-bearing Spurge in the treatment of asthma.

Collection: The whole plant is gathered during the flowering period in mid-summer or late summer.

Actions: Anti-spasmodic, demulcent, expectorant
