Gelsemium

Gelsemium is sometimes called yellow jasmine, even though it is not really part of the jasmine family.

It is a climbing vine with yellow trumpet-like flowers that are native to the woods and costal shoreline of the southern United States.

In its homeopathic form, Gelsemium is prepared from the root of the plant, which is chopped, steeped in alcohol, then strained to make the tincture. It is diluted to the desired, highly dilute potencies. Taken in large doses, it can cause paralysis of the motor nerves, impairing physical and mental functions like balance, vision, thought and movement; ultimately poisoning causes convulsions and death.
