Gout

Gout is a type of arthritis that is common among overweight middle-aged men. It is a condition in the body that occurs when there is an excess of uric acid in the body and the kidneys cannot get rid of it effectively.

The build-up of uric acid crystallizes into tiny sharp deposits like miniature needles; these needles collect in the joints, often the toes and feet causing intense pain and inflammation.

Diet is extremely important in treating and preventing the reoccurrence. The number one remedy for gout is to eat cherries whether they are canned, frozen or fresh.

Also a diet that is low in purines in the food, because it is the purines that are metabolized in the body to uric acid. These foods include liver, kidney, sweetbreads, beans and fish such as sardines, anchovies, fish roe, shellfish and crab.

Alcohol has to be totally avoided and coffee and tea should not be over-indulged in, best if not consumed at all.

The use of diuretics as well as anti-rheumatic herbs will help. Herbs such as:

Celery

Boneset

Wild Carrot

Yarrow

Here is an Infusion to make and use:

Celery Seed......1 part

Yarrow..............1 part

Nettle................1 part

Burdock Root......1 part

Drink this infusion three times daily over a period of time, if there is much pain, Thuja can be included in the mixture.
