Herbal Remedies For Shingles

Herbal remedies for shingles are given in doses that are for adults. If giving herbal remedies to a child between the ages of twelve and seventeen, reduce the dose to three-quarters of the recommended dose.
For a child between the age of six and twelve, use one-half the recommended dose, and for a child under the age of six, use one-quarter of the recommended amount of herbal remedies for shingles.
Astragalus and Echinacea - Helps to boost immune function.
Golden seal - Has powerful antibody properties and reduces infection.
Burdock and Red clover - Cleanses both the lymph nodes and the blood stream.
Cayenne - Apply cream to skin when sores are not active, relieves the pain caused
by nerve damage.
Cat’s claw - Has immune enhancing properties and acts against viral infection.
Aloe and St. John’s Wort - Can get in gel form and when applied to infected area
will kill herpes virus and will relieve inflammation.
Green tea - Use as a warm compress, has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and
antioxidant properties.
Licorice - Extract can be used topically, it interferes with the growth of the virus.
Milk thistle - Protects the live and promotes healthy liver function.
Olive leaf - Aids in fighting the virus.
Rose hips - High in vitamin C and works well for preventing infections on the skin.
Valerian root - Calms the nervous system and when taken at bedtime, it acts as a
sleep aid.
Here are more herbal remedies for shingles:
AROMATHERAPY - ESSENTIAL OILS:
Bergamot oil, Calophyllum oil (related to St. John’s Wort), Eucalyptus oil,
Geranium oil, Golden seal oil, and Lemon oil can be used singly or in combination.
These oils have highly concentrated plant essences and have strong antiviral properties.
Add a few drops of each oil to a tablespoon of carrier oil such as almond, peanut,
or olive oil, and apply the mixture directly to the lesions at the first sign of an outbreak.
The lesions should dry up and disappear completely within three to five days after using
this treatment.
Tea tree and Lavender - Mix equal parts of these oils and dab on blisters to help heal.
