Herbal Remedy For Bronchitis

An herbal remedy for bronchitis is given in doses that are for adults. If giving herbal remedies to a child between the ages of twelve and seventeen, reduce the dose to three-quarters of the recommended dose.
For a child between the age of six and twelve, use one-half the recommended dose, and for a child under the age of six, use one-quarter of the recommended amount.
American and Siberian ginseng - Clears bronchial passages and reduces inflammation.
Boneset - An infection fighter which is good for inflammation of the muscous
membranes.
Bromelain - Liquefies and decreases bronchial secretions.
Coltsfoot - Helps to relax constricted and spasming bronchial tubes and gently help
to loosen phlegm.
Echinacea and Golden seal - Helps fight viruses and bacteria and boost the immune
system.
Elecampane - Gently stimulates coughing of mucus from the lungs and fights
bacteria.
Fenugreek - Good for reducing the flow of mucus.
Hyssop - Encourage sweating, thus lowering fever, and lessen inflammation.
Iceland Moss - Good for mucous congestion.
Lobelia - An expectorant that can be rubbed directly on the chest to improve
breathing. Taken internally will break up bronchial congestion.
Mullein - Improve lung and bronchial congestion and circulation.
Black Mustard seed - Used as a plaster will stimulate secretions of fluids into the lungs
and then will be able to expel fluids.
Thyme - Strengthen the lung tissue.
Garlic - Help stimulate the removal of excess mucus in
chronic bronchitis.

Steam inhalations - can be used with or without a vaporizer.
Powerful antiseptic essential oils used in steam inhalation to treat acute bronchitis that will help ease breathing and nasal congestion:
Lavender, Eucalyptus, Thyme, Hyssop, Rosemary, and Tea tree.
For more chronic symptoms choose one of the following oils, or combine all three in
an inhalation.
Benzoin - Has a warming and relaxing effect on the bronchi, and aids expectoration
of the thick mucus.
Frankincense - An expectorant, which slows and deepens the breathing as well as
being a good antiseptic agent.
Myrrh - Has strong anti-infective properties and will help to loosen the sticky mucus
and shift it off the chest.
