Muscle Cramps

At one time or another we have all experienced muscle cramps. Cramps are acute and very painful contractions of the muscles.

They most commonly occur in the feet of the calves of the leg, but can occur in any large muscle.

A major factor is inadequate circulation to the muscles, especially if the cramp occurs after exercise or hard physical work.

With athletes or people who do hard physical work there may be a problem with a salt deficiency because of excess sweating.

Muscle cramps most often occur at night, and if you have them on a regular basis you need to find the cause. Night cramps are most likely due to a combination of reduced circulation, tiredness and stress, so the whole person needs to be treated.

It is quite easy to remove the problem with herbs, as long as you continue the treatment for a period of time ( a number of months.)

Drink this decoction three times a day for a few months:

Cramp Bark 6 parts

Prickly Ash 2 parts

Ginger 1 part

Massage Oil for Cramps

5 drops of marjoram essential oil

7 drops of lavender essential oil

7 drops of rosemary essential oil

2 tablespoons of grape seed oil

2 teaspoons St. John’s Wort infused oil

Combine these oils together and shake to blend. If possible make this oil a few days ahead so the oils have time to infuse with each other.
