GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The chemical element phosphorus is essential to life and is found in all living elements. It is an important constituent of the body, particularly the bones.

It play’s a vital role in the activity of the body’s cells, most importantly in the transfer of genetic information and in the cellular fluid of all living tissue.

As a homeopathic remedy phosphorus is prescribed in minute doses for conditions accompanied by symptoms of fatigue and nervousness, with a tendency to bleed easily and an unquenchable thirst for cold water.

TARGET AILMENTS (COMPLAINTS)

* Headache - Headache that comes from fasting. Dull pain, throbbing with a sensation of heat.

* Common cold - Dull headache over one eye. Laryngitis with a violent tickle in the voice box and a hoarse voice. Profuse, thin nasal discharge that when it dries if forms a crust and adhere to the nostrils. One nostril discharges and the other is blocked. Mucus membranes of nose become swollen and feel stuffed.

* Sore throat - Tonsils swollen with a dry, burning sensation and throat gets worse when going from warm to cold air. Loss of voice caused from an overstrain of the voice or emotional cause. Acute laryngitis that is combined with a dry, tickly cough.

* Cough - Coughs with congestion and burning pains in the chest. Hard, dry, tight cough that is exhausting, forceful and causes trembling. A feeling of weight on the chest area. Dry, tickling irritation in the larynx or the upper chest. Cough causes burning in air passages and may cough up salty, yellow and/or bright red or rust colored sputum.

* Fever - Profuse perspiration over whole body, especially hot and sweaty at night. Very hungry, but not thirsty. Flushed cheeks, especially on the left side.

* Digestive disorders - Warm drinks cause nausea and cold food and drinks relieves pain. Burning pains that extend to the throat and bowel. vomiting after surgery caused by the effect of the anesthetic.

* Diarrhea - Painless, profuse, exhausting pouring out that worse in the morning.

* Hemorrhages - Can be helpful with minor hemorrhages such as nosebleeds and tooth extractions.

PREPARATIONS

Phosphorus is available over the counter in various potencies, in both tablet and liquid form. It can be found at selected stores and pharmacies.

Pure phosphorus is diluted in large quantities of milk sugar and is then used to prepare the homeopathic remedy.
