Rhus Toxicodendron

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Rhus toxicodendron, more commonly known as poison ivy, is a vine-like shrub that grows throughout North America. It is also called poison oak, sumach or swamp dogwood. It is well know for its itchy, red rash its oil can cause on the skin.
The homeopathic tincture is
prepared from leaves gathered at night when they are at their most poisonous.
Rhus Toxicodendron is used as a remedy for skin complaints or illnesses such as chicken pox or shingles. It is also a useful remedy for joint pain and acute rheumatism.

* Emotional problems - Very restless, irritable, tosses and turns. Anxious when indoors
and nervous restlessness will drive person out of bed.
* Headache - Head is hot and heavy; painful to touch. Stupefying headache and must
lie down. Headache after a cold bath, wetting the hair or in wet weather.
* Eye affections - Inflammation and a swelling of the eyes.
* Earache - The Otitis media is inflamed internally and externally and throat is swollen
and sore. A swelling of glands behind the ears. Discharge of bloody pus
from the ear.
* Common cold - Glands are swollen and hard with a dry mouth and unquenchable
thirst, that is worse with cold drinks and swallowing. Throat is
swollen which causes difficulty in swallowing. Colds with
violent sneezing and runny nose especially in the morning. Tongue
is coated and voice is hoarse.
* Influenza - Aching, painful joints with a heavy stiffness along with the flu. Person
feels sore, bruised and totally exhausted.
* Skin rash - Hives with burning itch, sting, and worsens with scratching.
* Joint pains, injuries - Arthritis and joint pain with stiffness that is worse in the morning
and better from motion. Backache with stiffness along the spine,
bursitis and carpal tunnel syndrome. Problems from sports and
exercise injuries from over lifting or over stretching.
CHILDREN
* Chicken pox, measles - When rash is intensely burning and itching; it is better with
hot water.
WOMEN
* Threatened abortion - From over lifting and overstraining of the muscles and ligaments.
MEN
* Testes - Scrotum is dark and red, swollen and accompanied with intense itching.
The metastasis of mumps to testes.
* Prostate - Pain in prostrate when trying to pass stool.
