The first thing women do when they feel their sex drive lowering is to start blaming themselves. Women think: what am I doing wrong? What's going on with my relationship and what am I feeling? Don't be alarmed, you are not the only woman feeling this way. Women take an inventory of their everyday life long before they get to thinking about the medication they might be on. If you have a sudden change in your desire to be intimate and have started a new medication such as the birth control pill, which are progesterone dominated or antidepressants they can really affect your sex drive. They can cause dryness, irritation and most significantly a drop in your libido.
2. Drugs
Recreational drugs can also play havoc with your sex drive. They increase the serotonine levels and by doing this they cause a secondary supression of the brain that is responsible for your sexuality and orgasms. Some drugs will eventually deplete the serotonin in the limbic system and causes a drop in your ability to experience arousal. Over a period of time using drugs and also alcohol, your brain regulates so that eventually everything sexually will seem uninteresting and unarousing altogether. So if you want a satisfying sex drive, stay away from drugs.
3. Straying and Multiple Partners
Cheating will always diminish or destroy your intimacy and relationship you have with your partner. Women usually cheat when their emotional needs are not met in their relationship. Some men cheat just because they are cheaters and that is just what they do. Others justify their cheating because they feel it will help them to appreciate their women more. If you are having problems in your relationship, straying is not the answer. It will not spice up your sex, only dwindle the sexual experience with the one you are cheating on.
Some couples try swinging, thinking it will spice up their sex life and increase their sex drive. The possibility of developing feelings with someone else as a result of this kind of intimacy can destroy your relationship with your partner. This kind of behavior is not healthy and in reality is not worth the chance of destroying the love that you and your partner have for each other.
Some women feel that if they have a baby it will bring them and their partner closer together; unfortunately this is not always the case. We as women spend more time taking care of others than we do ourselves.
If you have a poor self image, you can change it by taking some time for self. Start exercising and eating a nutritious diet. Take a little extra time to put on make up, it will make you feel better.
We live in a time when obesity has become an epidemic. With men, when they become obese, the extra weight can have a profound effect on their sexuality. Their estrogen levels go up and testosterone levels go down. As for women, they can have a drop in their ovulatory cycle and they circulate testosterone, which is one of the contributors to a decreased interest in sex.
When trying to motivate someone to improve their health by losing weight, pointing out that their sex drive is greatly affected is a good way to motivate them to do healthier things.
6. Unattended Medical Problems
Ignoring or neglecting one's medical problems can disrupt one's sex drive. Such as one not taking their insulin properly if they are a diabetic. The first symptoms of a serious medical illness like heart disease or cancer may be a loss of sex drive .
7. Smoking
The arteries to the genital organs are more sensitive to hardening and cholesterol blocking than the arteries to the heart. Smoking over a long period of time can have a significant effect on sex drive and potentially orgasmic function. We all know how bad smoking is for us, it only makes sense to not smoke or if you do smoke to quit.
8. Steroids
Anabolic steroids in women can cause growth of facial hair, male-pattern baldness, changes in their menstrual cycle, an enlargement of the clotoris and a deepening of the voice. Steroids will cause a rise in your sex drive and then your body compensates for the hormones produced by the steroids and shuts down your endogenous system. Steroids will screw up your sex drive tremendeously.
