Thyme Essential Oil

(Thymus vulgaris)

DESCRIPTION:

Thyme essential oil (Garden) comes from a bushy perennial aromatic garden herb that grows to about the height if fifteen inches. It has tiny white or purplish-pink flowers that are arranged in dense whorls on terminal spikes. Garden Thyme has numerous tiny grayish green leaves. There are between 300 and 400 varieties of thyme.

Thyme essential oil is powerful and is distilled twice to remove some of the more irritant properties. For this reason it is safe to use, particularly on the skin, and in blends for children. Thyme’s perfume is warmly and sweetly pungent. It blends well with Cedar wood, Bergamot, Chamomile, Juniper, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lavender, Rosemary, and Pine.
