IPO Daily News – The Antidote to News Overload

daily news

The New York Daily News is a morning tabloid newspaper founded in 1919. It was once the highest-circulation daily newspaper in the world, and it continues to attract readers with intense city news coverage, celebrity gossip, classified ads, comics, a sports section and an opinion section. The News is the most important source of information about New York City and the surrounding area.

A good daily news article starts with a headline that grabs the reader’s attention. Then the main story begins, followed by more detailed information in each subsequent paragraph. The story should include quotes from a variety of people that have something to say about the event. For example, a football game might have quotes from the coach, quarterback and players. The article also should include statistics, such as rushing yards and receiving yards, to give readers more background on the event.

Each Daily News article has comprehension and critical thinking questions, found below the story. These questions help students dig deeper into the news story and make connections between their lives and the events they are reading about. Then, at the bottom of each Daily News article, we provide “Background” and “Resources,” such as video clips, maps and links to give students an even more complete understanding of the news story.

The Yale Daily News Historical Archive contains digitized copies of the Yale Daily News (YDN) from its founding in 1878 through 1995. The YDN is the oldest college newspaper in the United States, and many of its former editors and writers have gone on to prominent careers in journalism and public service, including William F. Buckley, Lan Samantha Chang, John Hersey, Sargent Shriver and Jacob Weisberg.
